Yeah, I mean, it's a bigger process in terms of making it permanent, particularly around consultation and things. We would have to look at doing like 6 weeks of consultation, and that's just outside of the scope of the VSL project in terms of the timelines of getting this in before the 1st of July, so it's not something we're looking at making permanent for this project.

What sort of cost do we have of putting a variable speed in versus the consultation process? Well, there's obviously a cost in doing consultation, but the cost of turning it into variable versus permanent, what is the actual cost of variable signage versus permanent signage? I'm just trying to get a gauge because I mean it just seems as though it should be an area that's only 30 indicates permanently anyway. So I'm, I just think we're putting an expense on that, seems.

Yes, um, I'm aware that part of these traffic resolutions were partly delayed because Thornhill Residents Association and the area around there came up, or I guess partly challenged, but also partly came up wanting to be more heavily engaged. How did that engagement go with the residents association?

So we, a number of the team attended site and did a site walkover. There was two schools in particular. Sorry. Resulted in very positive relationship growth with those schools and the residents association and the solution in alignment with the proposed TR.

So, quite well, I guess. And the second thing, just really following up on Councillor Tiffenbaker, if it's become apparent this exercise has sort of triggered maybe thoughts of a more widespread 30K limit as particularly appropriate in a particular area, should people who want to do that, perhaps including councillors, should they— they can still put in a submission or something like that towards you and you can have a look, have officers perhaps look at that as a more considered thing as part of a longer-term program of work?

Yeah, definitely, absolutely, we'll look, happy to look into it.

Yeah, look, question's just going back to Altum Classical Academy. Now, this is opposite in I can't remember the name. Ian Galloway Park, thank you. And one of the roads is Woolworth Road, which I never even heard of, but I realise that's the lane going down to the back of the park. So it's really, it looks like just a driveway. But I'm just a little bit concerned that we're going to 510. Now, if some of you may not be aware of that location, But if you are— kids will not generally be walking to school to that because it is— it's not in a built-up area. It is actually probably more a destination school and given what it is and even before when it was Cardinal McAfee and, you know, a drop-off. So I haven't seen kids running across the road or at any time. So I'm just— I'm wondering on what basis did the officers, even if the Eltham Classical Academy does have longer hours, on what basis has officers carried out an assessment that understand that kids may be walking to and from the school or cycling or whatever?

So there's the set of legislation in the setting out of safety outside school, Section 5, defines what qualifies as a school, their opening and closing hours, and then what's their significant access gates, and then how far you can go either side of those gates, which is the driving factors of how we've implemented the process.

So is there any flexibility in amending the timeframe, you know, from 5:10?

When it was implemented, this traffic resolution, they did work— the engineers did work with the school to determine the hours. We would need to confirm exactly why it's till 5:10. We haven't got that on us right now.

Because we have had an objection, and I'm just wondering, given the nature of the school, why did we still decide to keep it at 5:10?

Then if that's the case, are we— do we need to pass this resolution today?

We can hold off until next regs if need be on this one, but ideally we would like to get it in place so we can get signs installed by the 1st of July deadline.

Thank you, Councillor Calvert. So when this was initially established, it was legislation by, um, government for the setting of school speeds outside schools. Process was to then for officers to communicate with each of the schools for their core working hours, which Altam came back with 9 till 4:30, and then there's a plus and minus of that for kids arriving and leaving, hence the time that's been banded.

Just, just 10 past 5 seems really odd. So you're saying it needs a 40-minute window?

So that's the legislation, that's what's defined as the legislation about the window that we have to provide.

So we blame, so essentially it's the legislation that's requiring us to do this, okay. Thank you.

Regarding these, you know, what we might consider strange hours, I think the thing is that this is a charter school, and what I would imagine they've done is they've set their school hours to work in with the parental commitments. We know that Wesley College— sorry, Wellesley College takes children on buses from Karori all the way to Eastbourne and back, and one of the main reasons that people do that and parents enrol their kids in the school is it gives them an hour buffer at either end of the day in order for them to move their children across and not have to worry about childcare and things. I would suspect if we delve deeper into this, this is to work with the working days of parents, and I'll just leave it there.
